“People start to heal the moment they feel heard.”
– Cheryl Richardson
Who We Are
Survivors Studio™️ is a safe place for those who have experienced trauma to begin or renew their journey toward healing. We believe that proper health is obtained when there is a balance between a person’s physical, mental, and emotional being. With this in mind, we have designed Survivors Studio™️ to address each of these areas based on an individual’s current level of need.
We believe that individuals are part of a greater whole and that trauma impacts the individual as well as their family. For this reason, we have services for individuals, families, and children who are affected by the trauma.
Processing trauma is a challenging experience, and sometimes words are not enough, so we use a variety of experiential and creative activities such as painting, beading, writing, meditation, and music, to name a few to supplement more traditional therapy styles.

Founder/Therapist
Karen is an upbeat and friendly individual who embraces the idea that “Each day is a new beginning.” She believes that it is never too late to make positive life changes. She has a strong faith and believes in the incredible ability of the human spirit to heal. Her faith is a guiding force in her desire to help individuals find healing and hope.
As a survivor of childhood abuse herself, Karen is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges that survivors face. Her passion is for helping those who have survived significant traumas in their life find a “new normal” and learn to embrace life to the fullest again.
Karen believes that her role as a counselor is to work with her client to discover the best solutions for their unique situation. She recognizes that therapists are not in business to change clients, to give them quick advice, or to solve their problems for them. Instead, she works to facilitate healing through a process of genuine dialogue with her clients. Karen also uses creative outlets with her clients to give them the ability to express themselves in ways that may be more comfortable for them than verbal dialogue.
Karen values increasing clients’ insight and awareness and considers it essential that they practice what they are learning in therapy in everyday life. She emphasizes goal setting and encourages clients to formulate concrete aims for their therapy sessions and in life. Finding a balance between cognitive beliefs and current behaviors is also crucial for her therapy process.
In her spare time, Karen loves to read and learn new things. She also enjoys long walks in the woods, cooking, painting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Therapist
Paige feels grateful to join the mission of Survivors Studio in offering hope and healing to this community.
Paige recognized a deficiency in Professional Counseling for individuals and their loved ones navigating addiction outside of the Metroplex. Out of a desire to give hope and direction to those hurting, she felt led into the field of Professional Counseling. Paige has been seeing clients as a lay counselor, under supervision, since 2018 and is currently working to complete her licensing. Since beginning as a counselor she has broadened her range of clients to include those needing direction in things like depression, anxiety, sexual trauma, grief, relationships, and other concerns.
When life gets tough, Paige believes everyone can be successful through Professional Counseling. Her experience and education helps equip them with the tools and confidence to move forward. Paige’s approach is to create a safe space for clients to tell their story, see how it has impacted their life and help them form a healthy reality. Her compassion and faith give her the ability to connect with her clients in a way that promotes positive growth.
